Dropfix privacy policy
Your photos stay on your Mac.
Dropfix collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics and no tracking. The only thing it ever contacts is the App Store, to confirm a Dropfix Pro purchase. This page says exactly what the app does on your Mac and what, if anything, reaches me. Last updated 11 October 2026.
Who I am
Canino Digital is the trading name of John Canino, a sole trader in Brisbane, Australia, ABN 11 790 420 328. Dropfix is made and sold by Canino Digital. As a small business I may be exempt from the Privacy Act 1988, but I follow the Australian Privacy Principles anyway.
Your folders
Dropfix runs in Apple’s App Sandbox and can reach only the folders you choose in its folder chooser. It remembers each choice with a security-scoped bookmark so access survives a relaunch. It notices when a new file appears, checks whether the file matches one of your rules, and otherwise ignores it. It cannot see folders you have not chosen.
Your photos
When a file matches a rule, Dropfix reads it and writes a converted copy next to it using the image libraries built into macOS. Nothing about the photo, including its content, location data or metadata, is sent anywhere or kept by Dropfix beyond the converted file you asked for. Metadata such as EXIF and GPS is carried across into the converted file because that is what most people want; you can strip it with other tools if you prefer.
The originals
Converted files never overwrite anything. If you turn on the option to move originals to the Bin, Dropfix uses Finder’s own Move to Bin, so the files are recoverable until you empty the Bin.
What stays on your Mac
Your settings, the list of watched folders and their rules, whether Dropfix Pro is unlocked, and a short history of recent conversions, which includes the file names and locations of converted files so the app can reveal them for you. Dropfix also keeps a plain-English activity log, one line per conversion, move or setting change, with file names and folder paths, so you can see what happened to a photo. It is capped at about 2 MB and rolls over. All of this lives in the app’s container at ~/Library/Containers/com.caninodigital.dropfix, and none of it leaves your Mac.
When Dropfix uses the internet
Only to ask the App Store whether Dropfix Pro has been purchased, and to make or restore that purchase when you choose to. That conversation is between your Mac and Apple, under Apple’s privacy policy; nothing about your files is part of it. The only link in the app opens this website in your browser. There are no analytics, no crash reports, no usage statistics and no automatic update checks by the app itself; updates come through the Mac App Store.
When you buy Dropfix Pro
Dropfix is free to download; Dropfix Pro is an in-app purchase handled by Apple, under Apple’s own privacy policy. Apple does not share your name, email address or payment details with me. I can see sales totals and the country of each sale, nothing that identifies you.
Support email
If you email support@caninodigital.com, I keep your message so I can answer it. My email is hosted by Apple iCloud Mail. If you attach a photo to show me a problem, I delete it once the problem is sorted.
This website
The site is served by Cloudflare, which records standard request information such as IP address and page requested, to deliver pages and block abuse. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits without cookies. More in the site privacy policy.
Stored overseas
Apple, Cloudflare and Apple iCloud Mail store data in the United States and other countries. Each is a large provider with its own security and privacy commitments. Dropfix itself stores nothing anywhere but your Mac.
Your choices
There is nothing I hold about you from using the app. If you have emailed me, you can ask what I hold and ask me to correct or delete it by emailing support@caninodigital.com. If you’re unhappy with my answer you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Removing Dropfix
Quit Dropfix from the menu bar and delete the app from Applications. If you turned on Launch at login, remove it under System Settings › General › Login Items. To clear its settings, history and log, delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.caninodigital.dropfix. Converted files and anything in the Bin are yours and are left alone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date.
